When Dalisay “Dely” Villalon migrated to the United States in
1967, she was determined to be a part of “American Dream”
and make a difference in her life. Despite her multi-tasking as
a mother of five, a homemake and a nurse, she managed to
purues and completed her Graduate Studies.
Dely, as she is fondly called by friends, accomplished with flying
colors all the endeavors she envisioned as a young lady was
born in Niugan, Angat, Bulacan. Her parents are Federico
Manuel and Librada Garcia, both from the Province of Bulacan.
Graduating as a top student, salutatorian in high school at F.
D. Roosevelt Memorial High School, afterward Dely went to
Manila to pursue her studies at the Manila Central University College of Nursing where she
completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Then in 1967, she came with her former
husband, Dr. Enrique Villalon, leaving their two young children behind in the Philippines who
followed them later. In the meantime, Dr. Villalon served as a Major in the Medical Corps of
the United States Army, and in 1968, was shipped to served in Viet Nam War and was
decorated with two Bronz Medal
After working as a nursing staff member at St. Alexis Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, Dely and
the Villalons relocated to Chicago in 1974. In the Midwest, she started a successful
family owned clinic, the Holy Child Medical Clinic of Chicago, and was its Nurse and Office
Manager. In 1983, Dely joined and was named Director of Nursing of the Northshore
Terrace Nursing Home, one of Chicago’s premier nursing home with 276 residents. After more
than 7 years and winning all kinds of accolades for the nursing home, Dely then changed
job, and is currently the Director of Nursing at the Good Heart Hospice, Inc, one of Metro
Chicago’s hospices.
As early as 33 years ago in 1976, Dely was deeply involved in promoting positive Filipino image
by participating in projects enhancing the upliftment of Filipinos in the Mid-West. She held the
position of Vice President of the Filipino American Council, the largest Filipino-American group of
composed of Filipino organizations in the Midwest where she actively spearheaded worthy
projects of the Council. She was with the Board of Director of the Asian Human Services of
Chicago where she highlighted Filipino positive image by participating in the Asian human
services. She served as past president o f Auxiliary to the Philippine Medical Association
in Chicago and again was recently re-elected president of the organization.

image, not only in the Midwest, but all over the country,” explained one of the Filipino
community leaders in the Midwest. “She is a very decent person who works for the Filipinos,
not just for herself. but for all Filipinos. She is dedicated and very sincere in assisting
