  04/30/2009  07:27 PM EDT
WASHINGTON, D.C., April 30 (PinoyGlobal) -  We are all talk.
Let us put the much ballyhooed OFW and FilAm people power to test and
see if we really have something to brag about in the first place. Remittance
power, what the hell is that? You all know we cannot withhold sending
money back home, so let us abandon this myth that we can boycott our
economic role to our loved ones.
But politically, we can make a difference. So let's walk the talk.

MANILA—One of the songs of David Foster that have endeared Oprah

to millions of music lovers in America and all over the world is “I Will Survive.”
With the Filipino’s indomitable spirit and battle-tested resiliency to weather
the worst of times, “We Will Survive” seems to be the theme song that our

INVINCIBLE PACQUIAO PULVERIZES HATTON

NEW YORK, N.Y., May 05 (PinoyGlobal) - I just shut off the television that
featured the much-ballyhooed fight of the century – Manny “Pacman”
Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton. The Briton looked like a frozen turkey after the
crushing punch of Pacquiao that drastically ended the mismatch in the
second round. Our icon’s spitfire right and left hooks were almost invisible,
coming from all directions. As Manny himself told commentator Larry
Marchant “I won because of my new tiknik, huk by huk, I practiced
everyday.” What he meant was that he has a new technique – it is the
right and left hook spitfiring on the jaw of the enemy.

THE EVIL EMPIRE STRIKES AGAIN

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., May 05 (PinoyGlobal) - Sun Tzu, the ancient master of

Evil Empire did in the past few weeks couldn’t have been more timely.

Increase revenues? But that is what every governor is expected to do. Let

DIPLOMACY ADRIFT
              05/18/2009   11:06 AM EDT
WASHINGTON, DC May 19 (PinoyGlobal) - I congratulate the DFA Personnel
Association for its stand on the appointment of newly retired generals as
non-career ambassadors to Brunei and the Netherlands.  Their courageous
stand is in stark contrast to the inaction and silence of the leadership of the
premier department of the Government to the latest appalling assault
against the career corns of the DFA.  If media reports are accurate, the
Secretary of Foreign Affairs even allowed the Secretary of National Defense
to announce the appointments and even before their agreement has been
received.  This gives rise to the perception that the leadership of the DFA is
either a principal, and accomplice or an accessory to this unfortunate
episode.  It also gives the unintended consequence of the leadership going
down another level.  The appointments are not only defective in form but
also in substance.  As the saying goes, one who stands for nothing will fall
for anything.

THE PENDULUM OF JUSTICE
                        05/19/2009  05:29 PM PDT
SACRAMENTO, CALIF., May 19 (PinoyGlobal) - The most important act of the
President of the United States is the appointment of Supreme Court
justices. And the reason is that once appointed to the High Court, a justice,
like the President, can only be removed by impeachment by the House of
Representative and conviction by the Senate. However, the big difference is
that the President serves no more than two four-year terms of office while
a Supreme Court justice serves for life. It is not uncommon for a justice to
serve 25 years or more on the Supreme Court.
