Dawn Of Free Speech In Sight    10/1/2008    7:30 PM ET

NEW YORK, NY, Oct. 3 (PinoyGlobal) - I hope I am not dreaming or singing
hosannas with my optimism that criminal libel is graveyard bound. If
what is offing in the Philippine Senate translates into a concrete reality
then indeed criminal libel is on its terminal stage.  Unfortunately,
aspirations are mere hopes that may never materialize unless those in
power yield to the demands of the people for untrammeled freedoms
basic in a democratic government. Candidly though, our expectations are
divergent to the cold realities of life vis-àvis with what is happening in
our country under the demonic auspices of the Arroyo regime that has no
respect for human rights.

Reflections On Our Washington DC Trip    10/9/2008    8:30 AM ET

HONOLULU, HI, Oct. 9 (Special to PinoyGlobal) - The awards ceremonies
for the Twenty Outstanding Filipinos Abroad – TOFA - held on Sept 11-13
at the JW Marriott in Washington DC gave me the occasion to reflect on
my being a Filipino American at the same time. The event reaffirmed my -
and developed in me- a deeper appreciation of the inalienable rights and
privileges that my adoptive country, The United States of America, offers
to its naturalized citizens and immigrants. Just being in the hub of our
country is enough to give me chills and ‘chicken skin’ and rekindle my
patriotic loyalty and pride of being an “American.”.

More on the Presidentiables - The Road To Malacanang
10/13/2008    6:00 AM ET

NEW YORK, NY, Oct. 12 (Special to PinoyGlobal)- Last Friday's column was
pretty much devoted to the gridlock created by eager beavers in the
presidential race of 2010. Inadvertently, I failed to mention other
candidates also hot in the road to Malacanang. This inadvertence stirred
resentment from ardent sympathizers of other presidential wannabes
who were left out. The calls came from  different parts of the US,
particularly the tri-state area. Some actually came from the Philippines
from readers of Pinoy Global in the Internet, where Razor’s Edge is also
published.
