gave in to the people’s loud clamor for Sen. Noynoy Aquino to be the party’
s standard-bearer against the “trapos” that are clawing each other to be
in the presidential race next year. Without fresh untainted blood jumping
into the arena, these stigmatized politicians will be left alone fighting to be
president, leaving the electorate with no option but to select one of them.
That would be a calamity in no uncertain terms. The nation will surely fall
from the frying pan to the fire, culminating in the doom of our motherland.

"For me and my family, the TOFA 2009 experience, in which I participated,
was unique, one of a kind and an experience of a lifetime. Having been
nominated and selected for the award was the greatest honor of my life,
as was the unanimous decision of my wife, children and grandchildren,
brother and sister and friends from different parts of the world to attend. I
was very touched by their presence and they gave me the support I
needed to carry on through this very emotional awarding ceremony.
Indeed and for taking the time and effort to search for Filipino role models
in all corners of the world, Nonoy Mendoza and the staff of the PGON and
FILAMIMAGE, including his wife, Aida, and family, are really making a big
difference in promoting the image of the Filipino abroad and in the
Philippines. They too should be awarded the TOFA honor. The events and
ceremonies were carried out with the efficiency of a Swiss clock. I have no
negative comments to make but only one suggestion and that is to give
the awardees and their families the day off on Saturday to plan and do

program. I would like to commend them on their mission in creating the
program . The main goal of unifying the community and to identify
community leaders who will act as role models and mentors for others to
emulate is a magnanimous effort .
I am very humbled by this recognition because there are many more
deserving Filipinos who have done much more for others. Thank you for
the opportunity to meet the other well deserving awardees for 2009. They
are outstanding in their own fields and I congratulate all of them.
The work that Nonoy and Aida have started must continue to increase the
number of members of the Circle of Leaders. The designated leaders must
take their responsibility seriously in mentoring others.
The entire TOFA weekend was so memorable. The time and efforts of the
whole Mendoza family and staff was so outstanding. Our entire family had
an incredible experience. As one of the awardees, I really felt so honored.
All the events were well planned and very much coordinated. The
awardees just needed to show up and we were feted with delightful food
and activities. Thank you, Aida for the wonderful and delectable dishes that

use this power against his political opponents who go against his
convictions and principles.

"I have thought long and hard since the recent TOFA Award Ceremony. I
have to tell you that Col (Dr.) Tris Briones was very happy that he went
along with my nominating him for the prestigious TOFA honor: at first he
did not want to accept my nomination. I convinced him to go along with my
plans to honor him. The rest is history. He and wife Dr. Melba were
ecstatic after the event!
A few people have vilified you regarding this TOFA affair. I remember last
year that some jerk emailed some unsavory, ignorant remarks about your
project, the TOFA, and its "pecuniary, sinister purposes." What he missed
is the real intent on your part to project to America and to the world the
people of our national origin who have achieved a level of greatness in this
land of opportunity. It is not a joke to come to this great land and start
from scratch: it is daunting, it is full of uncertainties, it is stressful, and it is
not for the "weak stomach." Our compatriots who dared to migrate to
American and make a name for themselves in real accomplishments should
be recognized. They deserve it. And that is where you have been very
thoughtful and magnanimous in your heart and purpose.
I have told many people who asked me: is this Nonoy Mendoza for "real?"
I have told them again and again that Mr. Nonoy is a good man, a true
Filipino-American, and very patriotic, specially to dear old Philippines. "He
and Mrs. Aida even have a funded project to erect school buildings in our
country to elevate the education of the common people, so they can
advance in society." While I have no doubt that you are faithful to our
adopted country, the USA, I have a feeling that your major affection is for
the Philippines!

man, a newsman, a Fil-American, a true patriot to both our home and
